SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
WORKING APPAREL’S FR protective work apparel is secondary protective clothing, which is designed for continuous wear in designated areas where intermittent exposure to flame or heat is possible. It is to be used in conjunction with primary protective clothing for activities where significant exposure to flame or heat is likely.
Because the flash fire is over quickly, we can protect workers from fatal and catastrophic burn injuries by wearing flame-resistant (FR) clothing. FR clothing will not ignite and continue to burn when the flash fire is over, insulating you from the hazard and dramatically reducing or eliminating burn injury. This is why FR clothing and PPE are now industry requirements.
It is the user’s responsibility to determine that clothing is suitable for its intended use and complies with all legal and regulatory standards at the place of use.
It is the user’s responsibility to determine the degree of hazard and the appropriate personal protective equipment required.
LIMITATIONS OF USE
This garment is flame resistant and is intended to minimize burn injury during short-term and emergency exposure to flame or electric arc. The wearer should try to remove themselves as quickly as possible from the area where the fire or electric arc has occurred to minimize burn injury. It is intended to reduce the potential for injury, but protective apparel alone cannot eliminate all risks of injury. This garment must be used as part of general safety practices.
Do not use it for protection against continuous thermal loads, molten metal splash, hot liquids, or steam. Do not wear alone for structural or proximity fire fighting. Do not use it for chemical protection. Failure to comply with these warnings may result in serious injury or death.
Only those persons who are properly trained and understand the requirements for use and care of the garment are qualified to wear it. The garment should not be worn until the user reads and understands all warnings and information contained in this User Information Guide.
GARMENT MARKINGS
If the user adds any lettering, emblems, logos, or other additions to the garment, the additions to the garment must be claimed it is FR or not and meet all applicable performance requirements.
WORKING APPAREL recommends not to mark your garment on any labels to make sure all safety and care instruction is readable when needed, if needed please mark on the garment itself or on the pocket lining.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
WORKING APPAREL warrants that all Products will conform to the specifications and descriptions set forth on the garment tag and on the Website to be merchantable, new, and fit for the purpose intended as stated in such Product labeling and on the Website. If any Products provided by WORKING APPAREL fail to conform to the warranties set forth above, WORKING APPAREL will, at its sole expense and its option, promptly repair, replace or refund the amount paid for the nonconforming Products within sixty (60) days of the date of purchase, EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY OTHERWISE SET FORTH ABOVE, WORKING APPAREL PROVIDES NO REPRESENTATIONS, CONDITIONS OR WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCTS (OR ANY SERVICES PERFORMED RELATED TO THE PRODUCTS). Any warranty provided by WORKING APPAREL is expressly conditioned upon the following: (i) the user adhering to all washing and care instructions provided by WORKING APPAREL, (ii) the Products being used for their intended purpose, as stated on the Product label, and (iii) the Product not being modified, changed, altered or repaired by anyone other than WORKING APPAREL. If the customer or the end user fails to follow the requirements set forth above, then any warranty provided by WORKING APPAREL shall be void.
Since all apparel has an expected service life, this commitment does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, misuse, neglect, or obvious abuse of the garment.
SIZING
If you like a looser fit, please order garments 1 to 2 sizes larger.
STORAGE
WORKING APPAREL recommends storing your FR garment in a clean place and away from any chemicals or liquid.
Do not store in sunlight. Store in a shaded area or cover with a dark cloth. Do not store where contamination of the garment may occur.
INSPECTION BEFORE USE
It is the responsibility of this garment’s user to examine its condition before and after each use to be sure that it is suitable for use and will provide adequate protection against potential hazards to be encountered. Carefully inspect the garment for damage before and after use, including all fabric, seams, and closures. If fabric becomes torn, punctured or contaminated with flammable materials, or if closures are not functional, the user should immediately discontinue use of the garment.
Failure to fully inspect the garment may result in serious injury or death to the wearer. Never wear a garment that has not been fully inspected before use in a hazardous environment.
PROPER USE
NFPA 2113-2020 edition offers guidance on the selection, care and use of flame-resistant garments. 2113 now includes a recommendation that flame resistant or non-melting undergarments shall be used.
Do not wear flammable or melt-able garments over this garment.
For electric arc hazard exposures, wear the proper number of flame-resistant clothing layers as dictated by an electric arc hazard analysis.
Do not put on or take off the garment in a potentially explosive environment.
In potentially explosive atmospheres, proper grounding procedures must be used for protection against electrostatic spark ignition.
Garment should be loose fitting and provide adequate mobility for the intended use.
All closures must be fully secured, and sleeves and pant legs must extend to fully cover wrists and ankles.
CARE & CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Flammable contaminants will reduce the thermal protection of any flame-resistant garment. These contaminants should be removed before use. The garment should be laundered frequently to ensure that greases, oily soils, or other flammable contaminants are not present.
Do not use chlorine bleach or detergents containing chlorine bleach. Chlorine bleach can impact fabric strength, the color of various components, and can reduce the overall durability of the garment.
The garment should be laundered separately from non-flame-resistant clothing to avoid contamination from lint, surface finishes, and other transferable flammable materials.
Secure all closures before washing and drying.
Wash dark and light colors separately.
The use of fatty-based soaps for laundering is not recommended due to the potential formation of insoluble scums with hard water. Soap scums may be flammable and could adversely affect the thermal protective qualities of the garment.
Tumble dry on low heat (maximum 149℉/65℃). Do not over dry.
Do not use fabric softeners or dryer sheets. The use of certain fabric softeners or treatments can cause buildup of flammable residues that will impact the thermal protective properties of the garment.
When using commercial laundry aids, be sure to read and carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Do not line dry in sunlight.
REPAIR
Check garments for damages or defects before use and after washing. Repairs or alterations to the garment must be made with flame resistant components (fabric, thread, and fasteners) of comparable quality.
Minor repairs that do not affect the integrity of the garment may be made with like materials by either heat sealing or sewing on patches or darning small holes.
RETIREMENT AND DISPOSAL
The usable service life of this garment depends on the work environment, frequency of use, and proper maintenance and cleaning of the garment.
When FR Clothing shows things such as Frayed Cuffs, Frayed Collar, stained with contaminants that cannot be removed irreparable rips or holes, please DO NOT use this garment and contact your FR clothing manufacturer for instructions on safely dispose of the garment.
